Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI) calls on Fine Gael to clarify its policy and plans on disability inclusion
Following the launch of its ‘Disable Inequality’ campaign last week, the Disability Federation of Ireland is calling on Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny to clarify his position on disability inclusion in his leaders address at the Árd Fheis this evening.
John Dolan, ‘Disable Inequality Election Campaign’ Director and CEO, DFI, said today, ‘As part of our campaign, we are calling for a full-time cabinet minister for disability inclusion, an Oireachtas committee on disability inclusion, a just and fair income for people with disabilities and the immediate reinstatement of €136 million to the health services, which was lost due to totally unjustifiable cutbacks’
Dolan went on to say, “Over 600,000 Irish people are living with a disability in this country – over 13 per cent of the population – and they will be very disappointed if Taoiseach Enda Kenny ignores this section of the electorate in his address later today”
Note: John Dolan will be in attendance at the Fine Gael Árd Fheis this pm.
