My name is Gavin. My primary goal in life is to get married and raise a family. However, because of my disability, I am not allowed to. I am not allowed to have a sexual relationship because I have a disability. I am not allowed to get married because I have a disability. I am not allowed to have a baby because I have a disability. This is not right. No matter who you are you should be able to have a relationship, get married and have a family. People with disabilities are human beings too. Everybody should have equal rights. If we cannot have a relationship or have a child, why are we in this world?
I would like to live in my own home but the government does not give priority to people with disabilities when allocating houses as they don’t see people with disabilities as having the same need for housing as others. When I look for work, many employers don’t think I am capable of doing the work because I have special needs but they don’t even give me the chance. They say ‘no’ to me straight away. This is wrong. More must be done for people with disabilities who are looking for jobs.
Does that seem fair to you?
