We are a married couple and both have a disability from birth. Thomas has Aspergers and Severe Dyslexia Sarah has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephlus. We both face our own challenges at home but we over come them but outside of the home the challenges that face us are a lot harder. Sarah is a full time wheelchair user and Thomas is her carer. We live in a nice small town but recently the council fixed the foot paths and removed the drop down points making our life harder as we can’t get safely to the shops as we can’t get on the foot path. We have been told that it will not be fixed cause it cost to much even though it was their mistake. It’s just not foot paths it public transportation its public building its everything that’s stopping us living our life’s to the max. Its not just that we both want to work but we can’t work cause of our disabilities and cause of the low disability allowance we’re left with a choice each week do we pay our rent do we get our medication or do we eat and more often then not food come last.
But at the end of the day we will always have each other and we have learned that together we are stronger.
Does that seem fair to you?
